Frequently Asked Questions

1) Where is Faultline Studios located?

In the media-rich SOMA district of San Francisco, on Howard St. between 7th and 8th. (map). Only 2 blocks from MUNI/BART
with low cost parking garage options also close by (as low as $6/day). Street parking is readily available and FREE after 6PM M-Sat and
all day Sundays.

2) Ah, I've been in that area. Isn't Sam Adato's Drum Shop nearby?

Yes, as well and many other musician-friendly establishments such as Guitronics (tube amp repair), Rocker Guitars (instrument sales),
Audio Images (pro audio), and Black Market Music (used and vintage gear) to name a few. We are all in the same neighborhood, so
if you need a new snare head or need some amp tubes in a pinch, we've got you covered.

3) What about food & entertainment?

The infamous Brainwash is right down the alley, and also less than a block away are a sandwich shop, a chinese restaurant, and
a grocery store. The studio has a fridge, microwave and other amenities for clients who prefer to hit the grocery store. In addition to Brainwash
for an after-session beer, there is also Cassidy's Irish pub and Julie's Supper Club around the corner.

4) What about rates?

Studio rates really depend on the nature and length of the project, so give us a call to talk about your particular needs. We pride ourselves on being affordable to the independent artist who simply wants something better than a home recording but can't justify $500/day to do just that.

5) How do I book?

If you are booking one week or less, we require a 25% deposit to hold the dates. For longer lockouts contact the studio. You can either pay by credit card or mail a check to:

Faultline Studios
1139 Howard St.
San Francisco, CA 94122

6) What if I need to cancel?

If you cancel more than 2 weeks in advance of the first day booked, you will receive a full refund. If you are within 2 weeks you lose your full deposit.
This is very fair compared to most other studios...

7) Do I need to bring a hard drive? What about tape?

Clients can use a studio drive for the sessions but will need to bring a drive for transfer/backups sometime before the last session. Faultline will keep a copy
of your session files for 7 days after you leave. For more long-term digital storage options, Contact Us. OK, tape. For a $50 fee you can re-use a house reel. Cheap
and easy. Otherwise we suggest checking out www.tapetape.com or driving over to R&M Pro Audio.

8) If I have any questions after I book, who do I call?

You will get the phone number of your engineer shortly after booking, and he/she will work out the details from that point on. If you are having trouble reaching your engineer, you can always reach me at 415.412.2344. We look forward to bringing your artistic vision to life.
